Welcome Parents and Students!

Welcome To North District Middle School,

North District Middle is located in Varnville, SC and is one of the seven schools in Hampton District One.   NDMS is the only Middle School in Hampton One and serves seventh and eighth grade students from three feeder schools.  To some people, Hampton District One is in the middle of nowhere.  However, we like to think of ourselves as being in the middle of everywhere.  We are within 85 miles of five beautiful South Carolina cities: Aiken, Beaufort, Charleston, Columbia, and Hilton Head Island.  Additionally, Savannah and Augusta, GA are no more than 70 miles from us.  So while we are in a small, rural community, we have much to offer in terms of recreation because of our proximity to the surrounding cities.

Our school’s motto is, “Change is Inevitable, Progress is Intentional”.  With that being said, we have intentionally designed and structured programs within our school expecting to breed success. Academically, we pride ourselves on being educators who are committed to “excellence in teaching”  and who try to stay abreast of the ‘Best Pedagogical Practices’.  We utilize early mornings and common planning periods throughout the day to engage in academic collaboration that is strengthening our school’s Professional Learning Community and in turn, strengthening our students academically. Students have the possibility of enrolling in five different classes which will allow them to earn Carnegie Units, high school credits toward graduation.  Also, we have an Academic Intervention/Enrichment Program called “STEPS” that is designed to build students’ academic skills in all areas and morning tutorials in various subjects.  Annually, we sponsor A Math and Science Night, A Literacy Night, and A Math Digits Night so that parents can become acquainted with instructional programs at the school.

Our Community Partnerships include one with the Blackville Community called “Overcoming Obstacles”  and one with the Lowcountry Food Bank and Feed America Program that we give food to needy families during the month. Also, we participate in fund raising for Relay for Life, Pennies for Patients, and other noteworthy causes.

Last, but not least, we are very proud of our athletic program.  Our students are great athletes and always end up being conference champs in football, basketball, and volleyball.  Although they may not be conference champs in softball or baseball, they prove to be viable contenders. Some of our students participate in sports at the varsity level such as soccer, cross country, track, and golf.

North District Middle is a GREAT SCHOOL doing GREAT Things!!!!!
